Facebook News: Victim of Their Success? - Part 2
Below is what will look like the new user profile design:
As mentioned in your news from the February 25th, Facebook has shared and published more information and more details about the way they are going to roll out the new user profile design.
Their goal, as mentioned in the previous news, is to make the profile simpler, relevant and to give users a greater degree of control.
They still have to make some modifications by iteration to get to the final design so elements or names may still change but following are the changes already made.
4 new additional integration points:
- Expanded and interactive “Wall”. where users can generate their own content, friends can write Wall posts, and applications can publish Feed stories
- Additional tabs on he profile, where users can feature their favorite applications
- Profile boxes, which appear int the narrow column, separate from the tabs
- Profile action links
Implications for the developers:
- Almost all of the existing FBML tags and API methods will continue to work
- there will be a few more API methods and FBML tags specific to the new integration that will need to be adapted by developers in their future applications
